Max's First Bus Ride

On Monday, Max had a field trip to his future elementary school. All of the kids were super excited because they got to ride a real School Bus. Max was extra good and got to be the example of how to properly get on and off the bus.

At the school, we got to visit the kindergarten room, where Max's 3rd Cousin, Haley, read him a story. It was so cute. I got a bit emotional, because I remember when Allison was pregnant with Haley and I had just found out I was pregnant with Max. I hadn't seen Allison in awhile and at our family Christmas gathering, all I could say to her was "My God, your uterus is so big!". Now Haley is reading Max books. My, how time flies. Spring 05 031

This was his last field trip of the year. He will officially graduate from Preschool on May 16th. Sigh....

My Little Thief

I went to Home Depot and bought flowers on Sunday, as a Spring/Anniversary gift to myself. After I picked up the kids from Mom’s, we went home and I ran inside to drop off my purse & junk while the kids were getting out of the car. Tessa is doing everything herself these days & it takes her FOREVER to get in and out of the car. I came back out & noticed that my huge, beautiful pot of melon/pink Gerber Daisies was missing from it’s spot in the garden. So I thought Terry had seen them and took them out back to plant them where he wanted them. I looked out back, couldn’t find my daisies, couldn’t find Terry. So I think that Debbie stole them while we were gone (Debbie stole all the pots of ivy from my SIL's wedding) & go into my in-laws house to see if they or Terry knew where they were. By now, the kids had gone in their front door & out the back, so they were playing outside. Terry looked at me like I was nuts when I asked him about them and Mike just sat there while I went on and on about how pretty these flowers were and somebody stole them. I was griping for about 2 minutes.

Then Mike says, “Tessa had some pink flowers when she came through”

Me: “That big pot?” It was a big pot for Tessa to lug around.

Mike: “Pretty big.”

I go out back and ask Tessa about the flowers. I got a lot of "yeah, pink, pretty, smell yummy, pink, my flowers" from her. Then MIL goes back in her house & comes out with my flowers and said Tessa had knocked on the door and said “Look at my flowers Meemaw, they are for you”. LOL. My little turd carried the pot with her everywhere until I finally planted them last night. I think I’m going to get her another pot of them, just for her to have. She LOVES helping me with the flowers.

It's Raining in Florida

It's OK. Misty has a high speed internet connection AND cable TV, two things that I've never had in my own house. I'm still on my momma schedule, and Misty is still on her work schedule so I automatically wake up at 5:30 a.m. and Misty sleeps until 10 or 11. So that gives me 5 hours to watch crap on cable and browse online.

We went to the Outlet Mall in Destin yesterday afternoon, I got some things for the kids, and the bratty SIL. I also got a heavenly caramel/pecan/chocolate covered apple that was so delicious. Today I need to hit one of the souvenir shops to pick up a couple small things for the kiddies and a new hat for DH.

This is my last full day here, I wish it was sunny, but I'm sure we'll make do anyway. We are supposed to go to Coyote Ugly this afternoon, as a promise to Darrel, and to get my t-shirt so I don't post those pictures of Darrel on my blog.

I've had a lot of time to think about all the wonderful things in my life, and how especially wonderful my husband is to let me take this trip by myself. It was just the break I needed. The kids are doing fine, I think Tess is a bit pissed off that her momma's been gone so long because she won't even talk to me on the phone. Terry's going to bring them to the airport tomorrow to pick me up, I can't wait to see them.

Blogging from Florida

I made it!

Misty & I are having a great time. Saturday afternoon we both fell asleep on the beach. She lives only 2 blocks from the public beach access so yesterday afternoon when she was feeling pukey, I went to the beach by myself with my new CD's and parked my butt in the sand for 2 hours of NOTHING. It was so awesome.

I think it's supposed to rain today & tomorrow, but nonetheless, I'm sure we'll keep having fun. I'm not having a hard time like I thought I would, being away from
Terry & the kids. I've talked to them all a couple of times and they seem to be doing fine. Max keeps saying he misses "poor mom". He doesn't realize that poor mom is at the beach having the time of her life. I miss them like crazy, but I'm doing much better than I thought I would.

My Panama City Beach vacation is almost 1/2 over now. Time's flying. I'm so glad I decided to come! Misty looks adorable with her pregnant belly, and today she has her 30 week appointment so I'm going with her and I think we might shop afterwards. Fun, fun...

P.S. I told Darrel (Misty's brother)that I was going to post some old embarassing pictures of him on the internet if he didn't get me a Coyote Ugly T-shirt. He has 2 days to come through for me. I might just post the pictures anyway.

5 days until Blast-Off!

I don't think I'm going to make it. All of this getting ready for vacation is killing me.

I'm terrified that I'm going to get lost when I have to switch planes and I'll be stuck in Memphis for days.

I'm scared that I will be homesick for my kids & Terry, and I'll be miserable. Or that Terry won't brush Tessa's hair and I'll come home to a 2 year old with dreadlocks.

Then I look at all the old pictures of me & Misty, and all the fun we used to have and I in the world could this be a bad vacation? I don't have to do anything while I'm gone. No bottoms to wipe (except my own), no laundry or house to clean, just 5 days of ME & good old friend time.

AND - Misty lives just a couple of blocks from the beach, I mean, really, how bad can that be? I think I'm going to stay mildly drunk while I'm there too. I'm sure we're going to have a couple good laughs.
